The Police in Kasanda district have arrested a man who mercilessly murdered his own mother and injured her neighbor.
The deceased is 84-year-old Christine Nakubulwa, a resident of Lusolo B Village in Kassanda Sub County who succumbed to machete wounds at Mityana General Hospita last evening where she had been rushed by good Samaritans.
The late Nakubulwa was cut on the back, chest and hands, while her 70-year-old neighbor only identified as Nabatanzi was also rushed to Mityana General Hospital in critical condition but was immediately referred to Mulago National Referral hospital.
Police immediately launched a manhunt for the attackers with a sniffer dog, only to be led to Nakubulwa's son, whose identity police has withheld.
According to Norbert Ochom, the Wamala Region Police Spokesperson, they visited the crime scene with a sniffer dog that led them to the house where the suspect was picked up, but preliminary investigations show that he didn't act alone.
A resident says the suspect has for long been threatening to kill his mother over a family dispute. Police suspects that Nabatanzi could have seen those behind the attack prompting them to attack her to cover their tracks.
