Miss curvy Uganda was launched on Tuesday in a bid to recognize ladies with the biggest curves in Uganda.
While unveiling the initiative in Kampala, the State minister for Tourism, Mr Godfrey Kiwanda, said a beauty pageant is to select sexy curvaceous women and the finalists will be selected in June.
"We have naturally endowed nice looking women that are amazing to look at. Why don’t we use these people as a strategy to promote our tourism industry?, Mr Kiwanda wondered.
After the Minister’s comments, feminists went up in arms demonizing the minister for objectifying curvy women.
However President Museveni is supporting Mr Kiwanda's work to promote Tourism in Uganda.
While addressing the Press in Namanve, the President told the press that; "How do we explain why 'Nalulungi' is alright and 'Nabitege' is not. Should our children be involved in exploitative appearance. We may have made a mistake to appreciate Ms World Africa Quiin Abenakyo resulting in Ms Curves by Mungooma (organizer). We were encouraging Ms World Africa Quiin Abenakyo to market Uganda. If we do that, are we right? Is it only for slim girls to market Uganda?
We should discuss whether appearances are an issue," the President concluded.
